The Opportunity:Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking an Industrial Hygienist at our Lalor Mine, reporting to the Health and Safety Environment Superintendent. There is a camp available while on shift if you prefer to travel, however relocation packages and housing assistance is available to move you and your family to the vibrant community of Snow Lake if you wish.

Responsibilities:
· Monitors employee exposure to safety and health hazards (chemical, biological, physical and ergonomic) and promotes and assists in identifying,
evaluating and controlling/minimizing exposures to safe working levels.
· Accountabilities:
o Responsible for Radiation Management Program & act as Radiation Safety Officer
o Responsible for the Asbestos Management Program
o Create and control all Hudbay MBU Safety Data Sheets
o Provide support in developing and implementing procedures
o Provide advice and guidance for safety & industrial hygiene initiatives & issues
o Responsible for writing, filing, and submitting reports
o Provide support in developing and implementing procedures
o Communicate with and notify employees on testing results
o Manage WHMIS program, review & approve materials and chemicals that arrive to facility
o Manage X-Ray Management Program& act as X-Ray Safety Officer
o Provide Transportation of Dangerous Goods training to employees and act as company resource
Professional Experience:
Familiarity with provincial and federal occupational health and safety legislation
Demonstrated knowledge about all the functions that form a mining business unit: safety; exploration, mine geology; mine production operations; processing; human resources; finance; technical support; services, environment and communities; industrial relations, etc.
Radiation Safety Officer training
Minimum of 2 years experience in occupational health and safety
Experience in sampling and testing of workplace hazards (Noise, Dust, and Silica Etc.)
Qualifications:
Diploma in Occupational / Industrial Hygiene
Certified Industrial Hygienist (e.g. CIH, ROH) an asset
Ability to foster a climate of safety and continuous improvement.
Written and verbal communication skills.
