We are currently seeking an Industrial Electrician with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) / Automation
Location: Dartmouth, Nova Scotia
The selected candidate will be responsible for programming automation and controls systems involving PLCs (programmable logic controllers) and various types of robots. The selected candidate must have proven experience in PLC logic and programming with Allen Bradley, Siemens and Omron PLCs. They must be able to create and read logic and flow diagrams for program design, programming, simulation and testing, and start-up. Candidates will conduct functionality tests of equipment, as well as installation, repairs and service. Specialized training offered annually.
Main Responsibilities:
- Design, install, and maintain electrical systems in industrial environments.
- Develop and implement PLC and HMI programs to control and monitor industrial processes.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems that contain variable frequency drives (VFDs), soft starts, relays/contactors and servo Motors.
- Troubleshoot low-voltage control systems that contain digital and analog signals.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to integrate electrical components and/or programming into larger systems.
- Ensure compliance with CEC, industry standards and safety regulations.
- Provide technical support and training to maintenance and production teams.
- Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, PROFINET, Ethernet/IP, Ether CAT and more.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Diploma in industrial or commercial electrical. /Level-4 Industrial electrician
- Proven experience in industrial electrical installations and maintenance.
- Electrical design considered a strong asset.
- Knowledge in various PLC programming languages (ladder logic, function block and structured text).
- Familiarity with HMI development and configuration.
- Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and safety protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
