Athabasca University's Learning Services Tutorial Department is seeking an Individualized Study Tutor for the following course:

ENVS 200/205: Introduction to Environmental Studies

Qualifications and Experience Required:

A minimum of a Master's degree required (PhD preferred) in Environmental Studies or a social science discipline such as Human Geography, Political Science, History, Sociology, or Recreation with a focus on environmental studies in the candidate's research and teaching.

The successful candidate will have subject matter expertise in environmental studies as a broad discipline with specific knowledge of topics including critical sustainability, environmental ethics, systems analysis and environmental justice. Responsibilities include providing academic assistance to students, marking assignments, and assigning and recording final grades. Teaching experience of environmental courses at a post-secondary level is required. Experience in distance learning and familiarity with digital teaching technologies and online course delivery is preferred. Experience with adult education and Moodle and Brightspace online course delivery is considered an asset.

Along with the relevant academic credentials, this position requires excellent communication, organizational, administrative, and online/computer skills. The successful candidate should have demonstrated ability to maintain a high academic standard, maintain accurate student records, and return students' work promptly and within the University's required service standards. Candidates must own or have access to a computer and internet with the capability to communicate with the University and students and run any applications required to perform tutorial support. First consideration will be given to internal applicants according to Article 7 of The Board/CUPE Collective Agreement, followed by those candidates who are able to work from Alberta and then those who are able to work from within Canada.

Non-doctoral prepared employees: $243.25 prorated per block, per biweekly pay and/or $31.01 per hour.

Doctoral prepared employees: $252.98 prorated per block, per biweekly pay and/or $32.24 per hour.
