Join our Cybersecurity team and work in collaboration with the different teams within the IT Department. The Cybersecurity team creates training for City staff and advises on security best practices. The team also researches and recommends new security technologies to improve the City's cybersecurity. We stay up to date on the latest security threats and trends by connecting with experts and industry groups.
Position OverviewThe IMPACT Associate will report to the Manager, Cybersecurity, and will be responsible for:
- Reviewing the City’s current security posture.
- Using the latest in cloud-based security tools to develop comprehensive reports capturing configuration of servers, workstations, and systems to identify vulnerabilities and risks to the City’s environment and recommend necessary improvements.
- Creating detailed implementation plans and working closely with the Manager to execute security enhancements effectively.
We are looking for candidates with a background in IT or cybersecurity, who have strong analytical skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to identify and address security risks efficiently. The ideal candidate for this role will be detail-oriented, a team player and excited to help improve the City’s cybersecurity.
The successful applicant may be required to provide criminal record clearance as a condition of employment.
WORK FROM HOMEThe successful candidate for this posting may be eligible for participation in a hybrid, work from home arrangement in alignment with the City’s Work from Home Policy. - Provide valuable field and/or office support to support the successful execution of assigned projects.
- Collaborate with team members to facilitate shared learning and contribute to the evaluation and implementation of innovative solutions. Maintain detailed records of your work process, including any challenges encountered and problem-solving approaches employed.
- Collaborate with colleagues from different departments or teams on cross-functional projects to gain a broader perspective and develop a well-rounded skill set supporting your knowledge and success in a municipal career.
- Attend and actively participate in educational activities that enhance your knowledge and skills, aligning with IMPACT program objectives and the department's needs.
INDEPENDENCE- Work is assigned by supervisor and reviewed upon completion.

Formal Education, Training And Occupational Certification- Have language proficiency in English (equivalent to Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 6).
Experience- IMPACT Initiative Associates require at least 6 months of fundamental knowledge and practical experience related to tasks and responsibilities similar to those outlined in the position or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
