ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Based at the Detour Lake Mine site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for an HVAC Technician to join our Site Services and Infrastructure team reporting to the Site Services Supervisor. Detour Lake is the second largest gold producing mine in Canada with the largest gold reserves and substantial growth potential. The open pit mine is located in northeastern Ontario, approximately 300 kilometres northeast of Timmins and 185 kilometres by road northeast of Cochrane, within the northernmost Abitibi Greenstone Belt. The mine is situated in the area of the historic Detour Lake open pit/underground mine operated by Placer Dome which produced 1.8 million ounces of gold from 1983 to 1999. The Detour Lake operation has a mine life of approximately 22 years with an average gold production of 659,000 ounces per year.

Agnico Eagle Mines' Detour Lake Mine is situated on the traditional homelands of the Apitipi Anicinapek Nation, Moose Cree First Nation, and Taykwa Tagamou Nation. The HVAC Technician will be responsible for the reliability and maintenance of all HVAC units and refrigeration systems within Site Services and Infrastructure at the Detour Lake Mine Site.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on all applicable HVAC units;
  2. Installation, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining equipment according to company standards and manufacturer specifications;
  3. Maintain proper housekeeping in all work areas;
  4. Ensure all ozone depletion records and maintained and updated in accordance with company standards;
  5. Actively participating in developing and building preventative maintenance schedules and objectives;
  6. Support all departmental initiatives with and maintaining the safe operation of all applicable units;
  7. Ensure that safety issues are reported to the supervisor and promptly remedied;
  8. Promote a positive health, safety and environment culture and the Internal Responsibility System.

QUALIFICATIONS
Our ideal candidate has:

  1. 313A Refrigeration License certification or equivalent is required;
  2. G1 Gas Technician certification or equivalent is preferred;
  3. Minimum of 5 years related experience in an industrial/commercial/mining work setting;
  4. Experience with computerized HVAC systems and troubleshooting considered an asset;
  5. Minimum valid G2 Driver’s License;
  6. Proven commitment to health, safety and the environment;
  7. Exceptional ability to work within a diverse team.
