Job description

This posting is for one (1) full-time temporary position ending on or before April 03, 2026.

The Employee Staffing and Civilian Recruitment Unit of the Edmonton Police Service has an opportunity for a highly organized and competent individual to provide strategic advice and guidance to hiring managers while facilitating all stages of the civilian employee hiring process. The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:

  • Independently administer the full life cycle of the recruiting and hiring process, working closely with hiring managers to ensure best practices are maintained and collective agreements are adhered to.
  • Receive and assess Posting Request Forms for vacant positions, taking steps to have temporary backfill positions created if necessary.
  • Work with hiring managers to prepare Job Postings and then upload on internal and external websites.
  • Support the development of pre-screening questions in consultation with hiring managers to ensure all required qualifications comply with job classifications and collective agreements, as well as schedule and conduct candidate testing in some cases.
  • Review and approve interview questions to align with the job description, providing recommendations to hiring managers on best practices, standards and protocols, in addition to coordinating and scheduling candidate interviews.
  • Provide clarity to hiring managers on the details of the collective agreement as it relates to the recruitment process (candidate selection, promotions, performance reviews, attendance, etc).
  • Prepare documentation relating to the recruitment, selection, and transfer of civilian employees, including job requisitions and letters of offer and regret. In addition, collect data for Enhanced Security Clearances ensuring accuracy and completing Job Data Change Forms.
  • Prepare and communicate job offer details including compensation, benefits and other terms of employment to the candidates.
  • Create onboarding documents and facilitate weekly group orientations for new hires while also acting as a Commissioner of Oaths.
  • Prepare a range of written documents and records including maintaining tracking sheets and statistics.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade including business subjects with an emphasis on word and information processing, or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college, supplemented by training in basic microcomputer applications.
  • A minimum of three (3) years diversified word and information processing experience.
  • Certificate or Diploma in Human Resources is an asset.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft and Org Plus is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Taleo, encompassing the ability to post and close job postings, as well as troubleshoot technical issues is an asset.
  • Previous experience in Human Resources, particularly in conducting recruitment and hiring processes is an asset.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of collective agreements including CSU52 is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Adobe, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, customer service, and written communication skills.
  • The ability to process a large volume of work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • The ability to function effectively under the pressure of a fast-paced work environment with many competing deadlines.
  • Applicants may be tested.
  • As part of your pre-hire screening you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.
Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program.
Salary Range: 21M, Salary Grade: 012, $28.64 - $35.91 (Hourly), $1,933.50 - $2,424.40 (Bi-Weekly), $50,463.57 – $63,276.77 (Annually).
