Purpose:
This position is responsible for supporting our business location managers, supervisors and employees in areas of Human Resources (HR) including but not limited to employee relations, health and safety, workplace accommodation and performance improvement.

Job Responsibilities:
- Provides recommendations to address HR matters which serve to preserve the employee-employer relationship, such as reducing risk, increasing employee retention and morale.
- Maintains awareness of HR trends, changes to employment law, and the labour market environment in which the company operates.
- Actively supports managers with employee development and performance improvement activities, including development plans, performance appraisals, performance improvement plans, and escalation of performance concerns through disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
- Works with the Talent Acquisition Specialist to support the company’s recruitment process, as needed.
- Supports the company’s health and safety programs including compliance, training, employee awareness and workplace ergonomics.
- Resolves employee issues and assists in making a more friendly and healthy work environment.
- Conducts workplace investigations including workplace harassment, violence, injury and illness.
- Assists with matters of employee accommodation in the workplace including individualized accommodation plans, modified work plans, return to work/reintegration to the workplace.
- Manages claims of workplace injury or illness stemming from the business locations, supporting the manager and the employee in return to work activities including modified work offers, and working with the provincial bodies (e.g. WSIB).
- Supports employee leave program i.e. short and long term disability, maternity and personal leaves.
- Involvement in new initiatives and special projects.
- Ensuring all employee records are maintained and updated.
- Other duties as assigned related to HR.
Qualifications:
- Completion of post-secondary education in Human Resources.
- 2-3 years’ experience in human resources.
- Bilingualism (English and French) required.
- Ability to travel provincially.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Thorough knowledge of provincial employment legislation.
- Knowledge of HRIS systems.
- CHRP or in progress preferred.
