HR Manager for a professional services firm based in Vancouver. The company has a 40 year history. Candidates must be fluent in English and Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese).
Our client is a reputable and successful family-owned company based in Vancouver that was established almost 40 years ago in the professional services sector.
Human Resources Manager, reporting into the Directors/Owners. The HR Manager will directly support 70 full-time employees and will provide limited/occasional/ad hoc support to approximately 100 contractors/consultants who are not official employees of the company. This is a well-rounded HR role involving employee relations, compensation & benefits, HR policies & programs, recruitment & retention, performance management, etc. HR support will be provided in both English and Chinese. Ideally, the HR Manager would also process the 70-person salaried payroll, but this is not a requirement if the HR Manager has not processed payroll or is not comfortable processing payroll (it is a bi-weekly payroll, takes fewer than 10 hours a month to process). This company uses ADP for payroll and MS Office 365 Suite including OneDrive. This role is open due to a recent retirement.
We are looking for an HR professional with 2 to 5 years’ relevant HR work experience, ideally in a small to medium privately-held business (50 to 200 employees). Candidates must be bilingual in English and Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin). Chinese language skills can be only spoken/verbal; it is not required that the HR Manager be able to speak and write in Chinese. Post-secondary education related to HR is preferred, as is pursuit of CPHR certification. Qualified candidates will be confident, kind yet firm, collaborative, and excited to be the go-to HR leader for an entrepreneurial organization.
Based in Vancouver, near Vancouver General Hospital. This is a full-time in-office role, with typical work hours of 9am to 5pm. There is free street parking nearby and some available employee parking.
Base salary commensurate with HR work experience, skills, and education, likely in the range of $70,000 to $90,000. Additionally, the HR Manager will receive paid vacation, health benefits (paid 50% by employer in the first 3 years, 100% by the employer after 3 years of tenure), and some professional development support. There is also a bonus program based on overall company performance, and opportunities for commissions based on referring customers.
