Job Title: Human Resources Manager

Location: Lennox Island First Nation

Job Type: Full-time Permanent

Reports To: Band Administrator, Lennox Island First Nation

Summary: Lennox Island First Nation is looking for a full-time HR Manager, based in the Community. This position will oversee all HR functions including recruitment, policies, training and capacity building, and teamwork. The HR Manager would report directly to the Band Administrator and help support Band entities in building a healthy and positive workplace in our community.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Implement all HR policies and procedures of the band, businesses, and departments.
  2. Conduct annual reviews of policies and procedures.
  3. Update job requirements and descriptions to maintain the organizational structure.
  4. Collaborate with department directors to support recruitment and objective hiring processes.
  5. Administrator for all employee benefit programs.
  6. Investigate workplace complaints, facilitate dispute resolution, conduct exit interviews.
  7. Establish and manage comprehensive onboarding, orientation processes, and employment contracts.
  8. Development and implementation of succession planning for roles within the Band’s structure.
  9. Provide advice to directors and staff on HR management processes and addressing issues.
  10. Resolve grievances and incident reports in a timely manner.
  11. Other duties as required.

Education and Experience:

  1. A degree or diploma in HR from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  2. A minimum of 5 years experience in Human Resources, with at least 3 years in a management role within an organization.
  3. Experience working within an Indigenous community or organization would be preferred, but not required.
  4. Familiarity with HR software.
  5. Up to date certification and training regarding provincial, federal and First Nation policies.

Compensation: Salary range: $70,000 - $77,500 per year based on experience. After a three-month probation period, the employee is eligible for a benefit package.
