Forest Protection Limited (FPL) is seeking talent for the position of Human Resources Manager (HR Manager). Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the HR Manager is responsible for the execution of HR related strategies, plans, and priorities by providing people management support, advice, and consultative services to managers and employees within the scope of human resources. The HR Manager will be responsible for staying apprised on HR best practices in support and alignment of FPL’s strategic plan across the organization.


The HR Manager is responsible for the following key tasks:


1. General

  • Develop and execute the HR strategic roadmap: translate business challenges and opportunities into focused HR initiatives and solutions
  • Provide expert and professional advice to managers and employees on a wide range of HR matters, including employee relations, performance management, talent development, potential discipline, and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Lead salary planning and compensation administration and provide data-driven compensation guidance.
  • Provide direction, oversight, and mentoring to the HR team.
  • Maintain and update job descriptions and employment contracts for all positions.

2. Lead On-boarding and Off-boarding Process

  • Responsible for full-cycle recruitment, including:
    • Lead the hiring process, on-boarding, and monitoring of the process until the end of the probational period.
    • Propose initiative for building FPL brand in the labor market strategically such as career orientation for youth, academic partnership, career fair, etc.
  • Manage the offboarding process, conduct and analyze exit interviews recommending the appropriate changes and maintain record keeping.

3. Training and Talent Development

  • Work with the Management team in identifying organizational learning priorities aligned with the business strategy to ensure appropriate learning and optimal return-on-investment both for teams and individuals.
  • Work with the Management team in implementing learning and development programs to build competency and ensure relevance and effectiveness.
  • Participate in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success.

4. Employee Engagement

  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale and increase productivity and retention.
  • Participate in succession planning processes, providing tools and best practices related to both areas, assist in the identification of talent gaps for critical/key contributor positions and propose solutions.
  • Plan, execute, evaluate, and manage employee engagement initiatives such as the Employee Pulse Survey.
  • Manage the Employee Suggestion Box.
  • Develop new HR policies as needed and revise existing policies


5. Performance Management

  • Provide regular performance management guidance to managers and employees
  • Manage the Annual Performance Review program, including ensuring milestones of the performance management system, such as work plan and annual training plan setting up, mid-year review, peer feedback, and year-end appraisal, are done in a timely fashion.

6. HRIS Management

  • Maintain employees’ data in the system and make sure they are up-to-date.
  • Produce leaves record for payroll calculation.
  • Coordinate activities with the Payroll department to perform steps necessary to administer payroll and implement related controls.

7. Health and Safety

  • Develop new HR policies as needed and revise existing policies
  • Assist in the health and safety planning for the company as needed and provide advice on best practices and legal requirements
  • Act point of contact for all claims within the business with provincial and federal reporting boards.

8. Other ad hoc requests

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Human Resources, including 2-3 years of supervisory experience.
  • CPHR Designation is preferred, but not required

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and ability to cultivate and maintain working relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills, with the proven ability to prioritize based on organizational requirements, and to meet the demands of a high volume portfolio.
  • Strong analytical and goal-oriented mindset.
  • Experience in international recruitment.
  • A detail oriented, collaborative, pro-active and results oriented style with demonstrated success in leading and working on projects and project teams.
  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgment, tact and discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the highest personal, professional and ethical standards.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in French is considered an asset but not required.


OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Being legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Successful Criminal Record Check
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English
  • Have a modern mobile phone capable of making phone calls and sending/receiving SMS and email
