Overview:
Our client is on the search to grow their team and they are seeking a Human Resources Manager to support their Alberta and BC operations! You will be responsible for managing employee relations, injury management, leading their safety program, providing legal counsel to their employees and leaders, and managing the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department.

What you will be doing:

Human Resources and Employee Support

  • Perform meetings in coordination with management regarding performance or breach issues and exit interview/termination meetings.
  • Involved in investigations for accident/incidents, breaches, reports of violence/harassment/discrimination/bullying investigations.
  • Raise issues proactively with management, identifying practical solutions and help develop/implement appropriate action plans.

Safety Program Management

  • Perform site tours to identify and recommend continuous improvement in the area of health and safety and to ensure safe work practices are being followed.
  • Managing ongoing COR requirements including performing internal audits.
  • Review and approve accident/incident investigations, provide recommendations on corrective actions – follow up to ensure completion.
  • Review and approve contractor packages – liaise with contractors with unacceptable compliance standards.

Injury Management

  • Manage the BC Worksafe and Alberta WCB accounts.
  • Manage accident/incident investigations and follow through to ensure completion in all branches.
  • Manage LTD and medical (not WCB related) claims.

Legislative/Legal Compliance

  • Provide pragmatic and consistent advice and coaching to managers and employees. This includes but is not limited to employee/employer relations, attendance, performance management, discipline, hiring and termination, and legislation interpretation.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.

Day to Day

  • Attend safety meetings in Alberta and BC.
  • Management duties.
  • Periodic travel to Calgary and Vancouver Branches as required.

What you must have:

  • HR professional with at least 5+ years experience in a similar role.
  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration/Human Resources is required.
  • Exposure to the forklift industry (or similar) would be considered an asset.
  • Must be available to work on site.

Salary/Rate Range: $110,000-$135,000
