Renaissance Personnel along with our valued client, a leading North American Tier One automotive supplier to domestic and offshore OEMs, offering a range of components including coil springs, torsion bars and stabilizer bars and employing over 600 employees in North America, is recruiting for a Human Resources/Health and Safety Manager.
Located in Chatham, ON, the incumbent will be a strategic business partner to the local Plant leadership team. They will lead in the development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to Human Resources / Environmental, Health and Safety, disseminate them through individual or group communications and/or meetings, and be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and administering plant personnel programs. They will also assist the plant leadership team to meet business objectives and continuous improvement goals, as well as managing public relations activities in the community where the plant is located.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Manage day-to-day plant employee relations, ensuring positive and effective employee relations in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, collective agreements, and company philosophies.
- Serve as the contact for members of plant operations when direction, guidance, or H.R. related involvement is required.
- Monthly headcount reconciliation and manpower planning.
- Manage WSIB claims and effective return-to-work programs.
- Oversee the development and execution of training/development plans.
- Facilitate annual performance evaluation process.
- Participate in local and national wage/benefit surveys.
- Assist in developing the annual HR budget for the Chatham location.
- Ensure compensation and benefit systems attract and maintain appropriately skilled employees while remaining competitive in the global automotive supplier marketplace.
- Act as the lead contact for Ministry of Labour communications.
- Facilitate the negotiation strategy of the collective agreement together with the Operations team.
- Participate in the arbitration process when necessary.
- Ensure facility compliance with legislation.
- Encourage and institutionalize equal employment opportunity and workforce diversity.
- Develop HR professionals and maintain a high level of training in all appropriate skills.
- Attend monthly Health and Safety meetings and assist the Environmental Health and Safety team.
Qualifications:
- BS in Human Resources or other business-related field.
- 7–10 years of H.R. Manager experience.
- 5+ years working in a unionized manufacturing environment.
- Effective negotiation skills.
- Ability to multi-task and plan effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
