We have a permanent full-time position located at our main office in Calgary.
Working hours will be Monday to Friday, totaling 37.5 hours per week. The salary range for this position is $50,000-$53,000.

Job Summary
The Human Resources Generalist (HR Generalist) is responsible for carrying out a variety of human resources related activities, with focuses on talent acquisition and administration. The HR Generalist is responsible for representing CASS at job fairs, posting job ads, and conducting the onboarding and HR orientation of new hires. The incumbent develops and implements recruitment strategies and adapts these strategies in a sector of ever-evolving change.
The HR Generalist provides confidential administrative support throughout the human resources team and the agency. The incumbent is responsible for creating and maintaining Human Resources documents and records, including but not limited to offer letters and extensive training records. The HR Generalist creates and maintains staff files, performs HRIS document maintenance and reporting, manages the CASS referral program, and various other activities and projects.
Key Responsibilities
Client
- In conjunction with members of the HR Team and CASS leaders, spearhead agency operations in attracting and retaining top talent to participate in the delivery of services to the individuals supported by CASS.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand the impact of organizational change regarding service delivery to CASS clients.
- Ensure human resources practices are reviewed through the lens of client delivery; and accommodate to allow the agency to respond with agility and timeliness when appropriate.
- Uphold agency values and commitments with integrity and resiliency that aligns with funder, contractual, and legal obligations.
Agency
- Support hiring supervisors in the recruitment of staff through:
- Proactive engagement with senior leadership and hiring supervisors to best understand recruitment needs and challenges.
- Conduct labour market research and make recommendations on recruitment strategies to ensure success in meeting agency needs.
- Provide a positive candidate experience throughout the recruitment process.
- Promote hiring opportunities and the agency as an employer of choice on CASS social media channels.
- Provide recruitment support through managing job postings on internal and external job boards. When requested by leaders, pre-screen resumes, conduct phone interviews, and schedule interviews.
- Assist with the development of materials, tools, and documentation in support of HR practices such as onboarding, workflow management, and best practices.
- Build and maintain a talent pipeline and create and maintain a talent pool of candidates for future consideration.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external community partners and stakeholders, including post-secondary institutions.
- Represent the agency to collaborating partners, external stakeholders, and the community at large, including attending job fairs and networking events.
- Coordinate and conduct onboarding and HR orientations for new hires including the creation of employee files, employee email accounts, training courses, etc.
- Develop and provide recommendations for policies and processes for best practices related to recruitment, retention, onboarding, and orientation.
- Ensure compliance with Alberta Employment and Human Rights legislation, regulations, and best practices to manage risk as related to recruitment and onboarding.
- Draft and prepare HR documentation including employment offers, general correspondence, and other documents as needed.
- Update and maintain HR databases, spreadsheets, and the CASS internal website, and provide reporting on new hires, training compliance, recruitment, onboarding, orientations, retention, etc.
- Track and update employee changes on a monthly basis for payroll and auditing purposes.
- Support and facilitate changes that are required for continuous improvement for organizational effectiveness and consistency.
- Attend team meetings and assist in providing summaries, compiling team input to inform project plans and other internal workflow documents to optimize team processes.
- Provide coverage for the Human Resources team, as well as members of the Admin Team when needed.
- Provide general information and assistance internally and externally over the phone, electronically, and in person.
- Participate in agency in-services and agency general meetings.
- Participate on agency committees as required.
- Perform other Human Resources and administrative duties as needed.
- Some travel within the greater Calgary area is required.

Growth & Development
- Maintain valid certifications in all mandatory agency training requirements outlined in the policy and procedure manual.
- Maintain professional competencies in the area of Human Resources through continued professional development; seminars, courses, self-directed learning/webinars.
- Proactively identify and recommend appropriate training opportunities as it relates to organizational challenges and objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Three years of progressive experience in Human Resources administration.
- Two years of experience in Talent Acquisition or a Human Resources Generalist role.
- Experience in the non-profit/not-for-profit sector is preferred; Experience in disability services or the human services sector is an asset.
- Functional and practical knowledge of human resources principles and practices, employment legislation, contract management, and risk management principles.
- Positive attitude and the proven ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team setting to ensure all administrative requests and deadlines are met and policies/procedures are followed; Demonstrated ability to take initiative is essential.
- Business partner collaborative approach to managing inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and timely manner; Proven ability to build relationships resulting in strong positive working relationships.
- Highly developed time management and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail; Proven ability to set priorities and meet the competing needs of multiple individuals within an environment of high volume and frequent interruptions.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a desire to work within a diverse organization of leaders, staff, applicants, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Innovative and creative problem-solving skills; Possesses sound professional judgment, especially regarding confidential/sensitive matters.
- Demonstrated ability to support and initiate continuous process improvement with an ability to identify innovative approaches to work, adopt a proactive approach to assess needs and challenges; and contribute ideas or recommendations as potential opportunities in a collaborative environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and confidence dealing with all levels of an organization.
- Intermediate computer skills in Word, Excel, data management, and HRIS systems management (Ceridian Dayforce).
- Maintains and utilizes current Emergency or Standard First Aid that includes CPR/AED.
- A current police information check with a vulnerable sectors search that is satisfactory to CASS.
Required Education
- Post-secondary education in human resources or a related field.
- A combination of education and experience will be considered.
Other Required Skills
- A vehicle and valid driver's license are considered an asset.
