PEETERS MUSHROOM FARM is seeking a dependable full-time Human Resources Generalist to join our team!

SUMMARY OF ROLE

Reporting to the President for Peeters Mushroom Farm, the Human Resources Generalist will provide administrative and coordination support to the Peeters Human Resources and Operations team. The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for providing professional, client-centered support within a fast-paced food manufacturing farm environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Responsible for working closely with payroll to ensure all transactions related to the employee life cycle are submitted accurately and within the required payroll deadlines. For example, new hire paperwork, terminations, benefits, compensation changes.
  2. Collect and electronically file all associated paperwork.
  3. Ensure proper back up and signatures are on all paperwork.
  4. Generates standard daily, weekly and monthly reports. (i.e. new hires, terminations, headcount, benefits, training, performance reviews etc.).
  5. Participate in HR audits and data audits.
  6. Generate new and ad hoc HRIS reports as needed by the HR department.
  7. Monitor vacation tracking and coordinate end of year vacation roll over process.

Recruitment, Onboarding and Offboarding

  1. Responsible for recruitment and new hire documentation related to Temporary Foreign Workers.
  2. Post all available positions internally and/or externally depending on the recruitment strategy.
  3. Take down all filled positions and ensure job boards are up to date with only current positions.
  4. Main point of contact for drafting offer letters, onboarding new employees, collecting all new hire paperwork, and follow up to ensure all needs are in place prior to the employee start date.
  5. Perform reference checks for potential candidates as needed.
  6. Participate in interviews as needed.
  7. Schedule and coordinate Orientations for new hires for all salary and hourly employees.
  8. Prepare new Employee Orientation packages.
  9. Act as liaison between HR, new hire and manager regarding onboarding information.
  10. Offboard employees including communication with payroll and IT (where applicable).

Employee Relations

  1. Responsible for answering or directing employee inquiries.
  2. Draft employee verification and reference letters on an as needed basis.

Other

  1. Maintains HR forms to ensure availability for employee use.
  2. Maintaining and updating highly confidential information on a daily basis.
  3. File administrative documents in employee electronic files.
  4. Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.
  5. Fosters Peeters’ Core Values for the HR department and throughout the company.
  6. Performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties in support of Human Resources.
  7. Schedule meetings for HR and others on an as needed basis.
  8. Create presentations when necessary/ as requested.
  9. Send out email communications when necessary/ as requested.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  1. Post-secondary education with a major in Human Resources or related field.
  2. 1 - 3 years’ experience within Human Resources.
  3. Experience working in a food manufacturing environment such as farming is an asset.
  4. Exceptional organization, attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple HR functions and deliverables.
  5. Strong English verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate with various audiences, stakeholders and clients.
  6. Ability to speak Spanish an asset.
  7. Excellent problem-solving skills.
  8. Strong customer service skills with the proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with team members as well as internal and external stakeholders.
  9. Demonstrated ability using MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 80 per week
