Job Description
Akelius is seeking an adaptable and highly organized Human Resources Generalist to join the team. The ideal candidate enjoys collaborating across departments on projects and can multitask in a fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Generalist supports the team by contributing to a variety of key HR functions:
- Assist with all internal and external HR-related matters.
- Ensure personnel files are consistent and compliant.
- Facilitate onboarding, orientation, and training of new staff as well as employee offboarding.
- Participate in developing organizational guidelines and procedures.
- Recommend strategies for employee engagement.
- Coordinate employee development plans and performance management.
- Stay abreast of latest HR trends and best practices.
- Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource local law requirements.
- Research health and safety practices and suggest improvements or modifications to existing policies.
- Assist with the full-cycle recruitment process by identifying candidates, conducting reference checks, and issuing employment contracts.
- Create documents, spreadsheets, and support with HR reporting and metrics as required.
- Update HR databases (e.g., new hires, separations, promotions, vacation, and sick leaves).
- Maintain employee records.
- Process employee requests and provide relevant information.
- Prepare paperwork for HR policies and procedures.
- Prepare reports and presentations for internal communications.
- Partner with HR team members on ad hoc projects and daily tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business, or related field.
- CHRP designation is considered an asset.
- Three plus years of work experience in Human Resources; benefits administration and compensation management and/or payroll experience is considered an asset.
- Ability to adapt to an evolving environment and handle multiple high-volume priorities.
- Ability to communicate to all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in MS Office Excel; experience with HRIS and ATS.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle data with confidentiality.
- Ability to anticipate potential issues and work to resolve them.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work well independently with limited supervision.
