Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the HR Generalist will be responsible for providing essential support to HR operations across various client groups under the supervision of the Human Resources Business Partner. This role will involve handling a broad range of HR activities, including accommodations, leave processing, terminations, investigations, and supporting team leaders and managers with performance management and progressive discipline. The HR Generalist will also assist with HR projects and initiatives aimed at optimizing organizational effectiveness and supporting a positive workplace culture.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provide guidance and support to managers and team leaders on performance management, including coaching, feedback, and progressive discipline.
  2. Address employee concerns and resolve workplace issues in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and best practices.
  3. Manage employee leaves of absence (e.g., sick leave, parental leave) while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and company policies.
  4. Support the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) in handling WSIB claims, injury reporting, and workplace safety matters.
  5. Coordinate workplace accommodations in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and company policies.
  6. Assist HR Business Partners with investigations into employee misconduct, harassment, and other sensitive issues.
  7. Ensure compliance during the termination process, following legal and organizational guidelines.
  8. Provide coaching and mentoring to leaders on leadership development, employee engagement, and conflict resolution.
  9. Contribute to employee development programs and initiatives aimed at creating a positive and productive work environment.
  10. Collaborate on HR projects, including policy development, employee engagement programs, and diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  11. Continuously evaluate and improve HR processes to enhance alignment with organizational goals, efficiency, and compliance.
  12. Offer guidance and support across various HR areas, including recruitment, training, performance management, policy development, and legislative compliance.
  13. Analyze HR data to generate actionable insights and provide recommendations to improve performance and address organizational challenges.
  14. Develop and prepare materials for HR educational sessions, workshops, and internal communications.
  15. Stay current with HR trends, compliance changes, and best practices through ongoing professional development.
  16. Maintain strong coaching and leadership relationships with managers and team leaders.
  17. Ensure alignment with company policies, legislation, and regulatory requirements in all HR activities.
  18. Support the creation and implementation of HR strategies and initiatives that align with business objectives.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned.

Bayshore Specialty Rx, 233 Alden Road, Markham, ON, L3R 4C1

In this position, you will work in a hybrid model with 3 days per week onsite, with the first three months being onsite.

Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  2. CHRP (Certified Human Resources Professional) or CHRL (Certified Human Resources Leader) designation, or working towards certification is preferred.
  3. 3-5 years of experience in a generalist HR role, preferably within the healthcare or related industry.
  4. Strong knowledge of Ontario employment law, including the Ontario Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act, and other relevant legislation.
  5. Proven experience with employee relations, performance management, progressive discipline, and conflict resolution.
  6. Experience in managing leave processes and accommodations in compliance with applicable legislation.
  7. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  8. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
  9. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  10. High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  11. Ability to build strong relationships with employees and management.
  12. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and critical thinking skills.
  13. Capable of working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
