About the Okanagan Regional Library (ORL)
Located in beautiful British Columbia, the ORL stretches from Golden in the Rocky Mountains through the wine and fruit producing lands of the Okanagan Valley to the semi-desert Osoyoos at the US border. It is a vibrant library system, with 30 branches, serving 26 diverse communities, over 300 employees and a service population of over 400,000 people.

The Opportunity
Under the general direction of the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Coordinator works in a confidential capacity and is an exempt position responsible for support to the Human Resources Department. The Human Resources Coordinator provides administrative support and coordination for various human resources department programs and initiatives, including performance management, employee recognition, employee relations, training, and professional development. The incumbent exercises independent judgement and follows established Okanagan Regional Library policies, procedures, and practices while maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of information communication within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain the HRIS database.

Salary:
Salary shall be determined commensurate with experience of $60,000 per year or $33 per hour. In addition, this position provides the successful candidate with competitive benefits, vacation, and pension arrangements.

Education:
University degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field or a combination of experience and education.

Related Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years in a Human Resources environment (or equivalent combination of training and experience), including at least one (1) year experience working in a unionized environment.

Other Requirements:
  1. Knowledge of HR principles, Employment Standards, and best practices.
  2. Proficiency in HR software and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  3. Aptitude for detailed work with strong organizational abilities.
  4. Discreet and professional in handling confidential information.
  5. A collaborative, team-focused mindset.
  6. Understanding of unionized workplaces and adherence to collective agreements.
  7. Well-established time management skills.
  8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with courtesy, tact, and interest with staff and all sectors of the public.
  9. Valid B.C. Driver's Licence.
