Job description

The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of key HR functions, including auxiliary services, leave management, HR reporting, and employee experience. This role is essential for fostering a positive workplace culture and ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing.

This role is ideally suited for a recent graduate with a background in Human Resources or related field and some payroll experience, who is eager to develop their career in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

What you’ll do:

  • Process a multi-faceted biweekly payroll, ensuring accuracy and legislative compliance;
  • Coordinate biweekly, month end, and year end statutory obligations including preparation of ROE’s, journal entries, monthly remittances and reconciliation, annual returns, tax forms, and T2200’s;
  • Manage the administration of employee benefits programs, including health and dental, and registered retirement savings plan;
  • Administration of employee recognition programs, including tenure reporting and reward coordination;
  • Administration of employee leave programs including sick leave, vacation, personal, maternity, and parental leave and generate reports on leave utilization;
  • Coordinate various employee surveys and analyze feedback to propose improvements to drive a positive work environment;
  • Generate and analyze HR metrics and reports related to payroll, benefits, leave, and wellness to support strategic decision-making;
  • Communicate HR policies and procedures to employees, ensuring clarity and adherence to company standards;
  • Support various internal working groups and committees;
  • Assist with internal and external HR related inquiries and/or requests;
  • Keep up to date with the latest HR trends and best practices.

What’s needed:

  • Completion of post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources, or related field such as National Payroll Institution certification;
  • 2 years of Human Resources experience. Industry certification or academic credentials related to support the work would be seen as an asset;
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processing and benefit administration;
  • Financial acumen is strongly preferred;
  • Extremely organized and able to maintain processes and systems despite dealing with a high volume of work;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Proficient in using various online and cloud-based technologies. Specific experience using ADP WorkforceNow, CanadaLife, and Beneva is a definite asset;
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite skills, particularly with Word and Excel;
  • High level of customer service standard to both internal and external clients;
  • Detail and goal-oriented and have the flexibility to deal with multiple and changing priorities while focused on customer service and quality;
  • Strong ability to manage your workload, juggling conflicting priorities, establishing priorities, meeting deadlines, and working under pressure with minimal supervision;
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as required;
  • Bilingual in English and French is an asset.
