As a critical member of the HR team, you help with talent acquisition, develop new team members, maintain staff information, and manage employee and labour relations. Your administrative support is integral to the success of the HR department, ensuring smooth and effective operations for our valued staff in a diverse unionized environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Facilitates the recruitment process by creating postings, interviewing, reference checking, hiring, and delivering orientation.
  2. Work with the corporate Labour Relations team to manage all unionized employee relations issues at the site. Works proactively with management and employees to ensure a productive and respectful workplace environment.
  3. In coordination with management, prepares interview questions and screening tools.
  4. Provides administration and gatekeeping for recruitment and hiring activities and results. This includes data entry, processing hiring documentation and assisting employees with their enrollment in the benefits and pension programs.
  5. Supports and coaches management to ensure familiarity and application of human resources practices, programs, policies and regulations.
  6. Takes a leadership role in health and safety, supporting the JHSC, completing accident investigations, meeting WSIB reporting requirements, and overseeing modified work programs and claims management activities.
  7. Uses a detail-oriented and resourceful approach to investigations and problem-solving.
  8. Retains a thorough and updated knowledge of company programs, policies, procedures and gaming regulations. Liaises with government regulators to ensure compliance.
  9. Retains a thorough and updated knowledge of human resources practices, legislation and policies to respond to employee and management inquiries.
  10. Supports the design, implementation and ongoing delivery of Human Resource programs and initiatives.

What You Bring

  1. Diploma or degree in human resources and two to five years of related human resources experience and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Professional demeanor and razor-sharp interpersonal skills.
  3. Solid writing skills, efficient multitasker and detail-oriented.
  4. Exceptional people skills and refined understanding of labour laws and standards.
  5. Readily answer team member requests, questions, and concerns.
  6. A solution-driven personality who thrives while helping staff meet their goals.
  7. Insight and skills related to talent acquisition.
  8. Minimum of two years of experience in Human Resources.
  9. Experience with MS Office, particularly Excel.
