As a key member of our Human Resources team, you will be responsible for managing various HR functions including talent management, employee relations, benefits administration, and compliance. Importantly, you will serve as a backup for payroll processing and providing payroll support as needed. You thrive in fast-paced environments, collaborate effectively within teams, and consistently demonstrate the initiative needed to drive success.
Talent Management :
- Lead and support the recruitment and selection process including posting job openings, screening candidates, and conducting interviews.
- Ensure the implementation and completion of training and development programs.
- Ensure performance management processes, including performance reviews and employee development plans are in place and completed.
Backup Payroll Administration :
- Support payroll processing for Canadian and US payroll; serve as primary backup as necessary.
- Help resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee payroll inquiries.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with payroll regulations for federal, provincial / state and local jurisdictions.
Benefits and Leave Administration :
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other company-sponsored benefits.
- Assist employees with benefits enrollment and answer related questions.
- Collaborate with broader HR team for annual open enrollment activities.
- Manage and administer employee leave of absences including medical and non-medical leaves, ensuring compliance with policies and providing support and guidance to employees throughout the process.
Employee Relations :
- Provide guidance and support to employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, and employee relations issues.
- Conduct investigations and resolve workplace conflicts.
- Facilitate and mediate conflict resolution sessions as needed.
Compliance :
- Ensure compliance with all employment laws and regulations.
- Maintain and update employee records and HR databases.
HR Projects and Initiatives :
- Collaboratively lead or participate in HR projects and initiatives aimed at improving HR processes and enhancing the employee experience.
- Conduct HR audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement.
Knowledge and Skills
- Driven self-starter with a bias for action who thrives within a fast pace demanding environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in a Human Resources related role.
- CHRP certification an asset.
- Experience with HRIS systems (ADP Workforce Now an asset).
- Understanding of Canadian and / or US employment regulations.
- Understanding of personnel and compliance records management.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Working language is predominantly English; the ability to communicate in both official languages is an asset.
