Position Overview
Under the general guidance of the Director of Human Resources and the Site Manager, the HR Business Partner (HRBP) serves as support for day-to-day HR-related activities at the NewCold, Coaldale, AB location. This is a new role at a new facility and will help manage a start-up warehouse while also balancing HR compliance and employee engagement.
This role will support the site with recruitment activities, payroll, employee orientation and onboarding support, training and development support, and administrative HR compliance expertise.
We are looking for an experienced Human Resources professional who can support the site while also being an employee resource to help engage employees at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  1. Builds/maintains relationships with front-line managers and supervisors serving as a primary point of contact for day-to-day and administrative HR activities.
  2. Works closely with HR Director, HR Regional team, and Site Managers on the full spectrum of core HR activities that include performance management, learning and development, talent management, and employee engagement initiatives.
  3. Is knowledgeable of local employment laws, company policies, and can interpret this information to employees.
  4. Processes and manages payroll for hourly and salaried workforce via ADP (80-100 employees).
  5. Works with hiring managers regarding hiring needs, creates and manages job postings via Cornerstone ATS system, candidate sourcing, interviewing, scheduling, extending offers, and onboarding of new hires.
  6. Ensures the effective use of data in decision-making and makes recommendations to data collection efforts and data monitoring.
  7. Manages relevant HR administration tasks and ensures compliance with the law and NewCold policies.
  8. Assists in the effective and timely implementation of HR processes, policies, projects, and employee events.
  9. Stays abreast of marketplace best practices and advises site leaders as needed.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Organization Development, or related discipline required.
Minimum three (3) years progressive and professional experience as an HR Generalist or functional area specialist required.
Previous manufacturing or warehouse experience preferred.
HR-related certification (SHRM or HRCI) preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of general HR Bodies of Knowledge.
Innate ability to multi-task and strong organizational competence.
Working knowledge of and demonstrated thought leadership in multiple human resource disciplines including employee and labor relations, diversity, equity & inclusion, compensation practices, performance management, federal and state respective employment laws.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information possessing skills to handle situations in a professional and diplomatic manner.
A high degree of collaboration and emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and analytical ability.
Demonstrated ability to influence, lead, and manage projects in a heavily matrixed environment.
Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, listening, and interpersonal).
Strong networker, convener, relationship builder, and communicator with experience collaborating with diverse work teams and stakeholders.
Multi-language knowledge and/or ability.
