Job description

Unique opportunity with a large, fast-paced, complex, and publicly-listed Canadian company with a friendly and down-to-earth corporate culture. Great opportunity for an analytically-minded professional who wants to work with a tightknit, collaborative, and supportive HR team.

Who - the Company:

Our client is a very well-established, interesting, and reputable company with operations throughout Canada and the US. SWIM has placed many people at this company over the years with positive feedback on the team culture. The company has been listed on “Top Employer” lists.

What - the Role:

On behalf of our client, Swim Recruiting is looking for a new HR Analyst who will work on the HR team and report directly into a Senior HR Manager. This is a newly created role. The HR Analyst will take on a variety of routine and ad hoc analytical projects - for example, participating in trials of new AI tools for the HR team, analyzing HR processes, documenting new policies, creating spreadsheets to review and analyze HR data, reviewing collective agreements to identify differences, researching HR-related issues that impact the business, facilitating meetings, etc. The Analyst’s scope will be across Canada and the US, and they will collaborate with internal stakeholders in all of the company’s operations.

Who - the Candidate:

We are looking for a business analysis professional, preferably with relevant HR work experience and/or HR education. Excellent candidates for this role will be resourceful, independent, self-motivated, confident, and business savvy. Given this is a newly created role we are looking for people who are comfortable seeking out work and new projects, rather than sitting back and waiting for the work to come to them.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills are key in this role. Advanced proficiency in Excel is required in this role, as is hands-on experience with PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, etc. The more systems and tools the Analyst has used, the better!

  1. Excellent relationship building skills with folks working at the corporate office, “in the field” and at the operating sites, and in various departments including HR, payroll, accounting, IT, etc.
  2. We are looking for problem-solvers with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills and a passion for internal customer service.
  3. We are looking for people who operate with integrity, urgency, and professionalism.
  4. Relevant education and professional development is preferred, such as pursuit of PMP, CPHR, MBA, etc.
  5. Systems savvy, with the eagerness to learn and master new tools and technologies (for example, MS Co-Pilot, AI tools, ChatGPT, etc.)

Beneficial Skills & Experience:

  1. Public company experience.
  2. Exposure to business with unionized operations.
  3. Working for a large and complex public company with operations across Canada and the US.
  4. Systems - Experience using HRIS, ATS, Payroll systems, LMS, etc.

How Much:

Competitive hourly rate or annualized base salary commensurate with relevant experience and skills, in the range of $30 to $36 an hour or $65,000 to $75,000 annualized. If or when the Analyst is hired as a permanent employee (vs on contract), the HR Analyst will be eligible for an annual bonus, great health & dental benefits, a generous RRSP matching program, an employee share purchase program, professional development support, and other perks. Please discuss your total compensation expectations in further detail with SWIM!

Where:

The company is headquartered in Burnaby, very close to rapid transit. Full-time in office for the first ~4 weeks during training, and after that the HR Analyst can choose to work from home 1 day/week, with flexibility based on work and personal life schedules.
