POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The successful applicant will promote the values, principles, and services of SEIU Healthcare by providing general HR support to the HR department in day-to-day HR administrative tasks and activities.

The position holder will report to the HR Business Partner and work in close coordination with Admin unit, finance unit, and others. This position is for 12 months and based out of our Richmond Hill Office.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Recruitment & Selection:
    • Assist with job postings, resume screening, and scheduling interviews.
    • Participate in candidate outreach and follow-ups.
  2. Onboarding & Orientation:
    • Support new hire onboarding processes, including preparing welcome kits and conducting orientation sessions.
  3. HR Operations:
    • Maintain accurate employee records and update HR databases (e.g., HRIS).
    • Help draft and revise HR policies and procedures.
  4. Employee Engagement:
    • Assist in planning and coordinating employee events and engagement activities.
    • Conduct surveys and compile feedback to improve workplace culture.
  5. Learning & Development:
    • Support training and development initiatives, including scheduling sessions and preparing materials.
  6. Special Projects:
    • Collaborate on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
    • Participate in HR-related research and reporting as needed.

Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous office related experience or experience in Human Resources is an asset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with HRIS, ATS and resume databases
  • Basic knowledge of labor legislation
  • Good understanding of full-cycle recruiting
  • Familiarity with office equipment e.g., printing, photocopying, scanning
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work with confidential information is essential
  • Must be able to adapt, think quickly, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent writing, and verbal skills
  • Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to deal with tense situations.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Time management skills
  • Building and maintaining trust relationships with all stakeholders.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORKING CONDITIONS / ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the internship
  • You will be required to work on-site at our Richmond Hill location
  • Office work can include prolonged periods of sitting at a workstation and certain repetitive movements associated with such work.
  • Using a computer for long periods of time.
  • Frequent use of telephone.
