At Tilbury Manor, we are passionate about Making Every Moment Matter. We are looking for a strategic, dedicated and compassionate HR Generalist (internally known as: Employee Engagement Specialist) who shares our values and is committed to making a difference. This role plays a vital part in supporting our employees as we transition to a new long-term care home, ensuring high engagement, staff retention, and a thriving workplace culture.


About The Role

Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the Director of Care, Department Heads, and the Health Human Resources Team, the Employee Engagement Specialist supports workforce planning and engagement strategies. This role is key in fostering a positive and inclusive culture, helping staff navigate change, and maintaining a strong, committed team.


This role is currently located in Tilbury but will be moving to Belle River in early 2026.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts to ensure a stable and engaged workforce.
  • Foster a positive workplace culture by supporting employee engagement initiatives.
  • Support strategic HR functions, including wellness programs, absenteeism management, performance management, and talent development.
  • Analyze workforce trends and provide recommendations to enhance employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Coordinate and manage employee engagement surveys, assess trends, and collaborate on action plans.
  • Provide HRIS support and optimize system usage for workforce management.
  • Ensure smooth staff transitions and maintain morale as we move into our new home.
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to connect with employees.

Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
  • CHRP designation is an asset.
  • 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in long-term care or healthcare.
  • Strong interpersonal and consultative skills with the ability to support and mentor employees.
  • Experience with labour relations is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office/G-Suite.
  • Flexible availability to engage with employees across different shifts.
