We are seeking an experienced and dynamic HR Business Partner to join our team, responsible for driving strategic HR initiatives that align with our business objectives. This role will involve close collaboration with leadership to develop and implement HR strategies tailored to enhance organizational growth and employee engagement. You will be looked upon as a trusted advisor on employee relations, change management, and workforce planning, ensuring a supportive work environment that fosters open communication and continuous improvement. Please note, this is a 13 Month Contract.

While this job provides the flexibility to work from home the majority of the time, it requires travel to our office at Oakville 1-2 times per month and on a requirement basis as well.

Please note we are only considering candidates who are eligible to work in Canada and are currently located in the Greater Toronto Area.

WHAT DOES THE DAY-TO-DAY LOOK LIKE?

  • Strategic HR Management and Business Understanding: Partner with leaders to develop and implement HR strategies that align with and support business goals. Dive deep into your business units to gain a thorough understanding of their core objectives and key people priorities. Provide strategic input on organizational development and future workforce planning.
  • Employee Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and managers, addressing concerns and resolving conflicts promptly while maintaining a human-centered approach. Ensure all employee relations activities comply with Federal labor laws and internal company policies. Conduct thorough investigations when necessary, offering guidance on best practices, and promoting a culture of open communication and trust within the organization.
  • Change Management: Lead and support organizational change initiatives, including restructuring efforts, to ensure smooth transitions and minimize disruptions. Collaborate with leaders to develop and implement change management plans aligned with business objectives.
  • Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain strong, trusting relationships with employees, managers, and key stakeholders within your Business Unit. Actively engage with team members at all levels to understand their needs, concerns, and aspirations to enhance employee satisfaction and ensure alignment between HR initiatives and business goals.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively recommend strategies to enhance and evolve the employee experience. Identify opportunities for improvement, analyze data to inform decisions, and implement initiatives that foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Leave of Absence Management: Oversee and manage leaves of absence, focusing on maternity and parental leave. Ensure all required paperwork is accurately completed and filed in a timely manner, maintaining compliance with legal requirements and company policies. Facilitate a smooth transition for employees before, during, and after their leave to promote a positive experience.
  • Feedback Collection: Conduct interviews and focus groups, including exit interviews, stay interviews, and new hire interviews, to gather valuable insights from employees at different stages of their employment. Use this data to make informed recommendations to senior management, contributing to the development of strategies and initiatives that drive employee engagement, retention, and overall organizational effectiveness.
  • HR Analytics and Reporting: Leverage HR metrics and data to inform decision-making and evaluate the effectiveness of HR initiatives. Prepare and present detailed data reports, analyzing trends and providing actionable recommendations.
  • Compliance and Legislation: Ensure compliance with labour laws and company policies. Stay up to date with any changes in employment legislation and industry best practices, sharing them with the team to help make necessary updates or changes. Experience working with and applying the Canada Labour Code is considered a strong asset. Any experience working with US labour laws would be an added bonus!

WE ARE HOPING YOU HAVE:

  • Undergraduate degree or Diploma/Certificate in Human Resources (preferred).
  • 2-3 Years of People Ops Generalist or HR Business Partner Experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the HR field, including an understanding of federal and provincial employment regulations, with specific experience in Federal Labour Law.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of handling sensitive employee relation situations including terminations and leave of absence.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to handle simultaneous projects with multiple moving parts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; fearless in asking questions and pushing back when needed.
  • Pro at prioritizing and thriving in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
