Job description

Ensure all guests at Rancho Valencia have a pristine room. Work with all departments to ensure guest satisfaction and exceed their expectations. Promote excellent personal rapport with guests and housekeeping employees. Support the Director of Housekeeping to ensure monthly supplies and inventories are up to date. Assist in inspecting rooms and resort areas; work closely with Engineering & Front Desk. Handle the daily operations in housekeeping.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Prepare and distribute assignment sheets to assigned staff and review priorities.
  2. Communicate additions or changes to the assignment sheets as they arise throughout the shift. Identify situations which compromise the department’s standards and delegate these tasks.
  3. Inspect all public areas, to include pool area, offices, tennis, lobby, and service areas after being cleaned by Housemen/attendants. Ensure that cleanliness and condition of each area meet the standards of Rancho Valencia.
  4. Complete work orders for maintenance repairs and submit to dispatch.
  5. Monitor and handle guest complaints by following procedures and ensuring guest satisfaction.
  6. Provide feedback on staff performance to the Director. Report disciplinary problems to the Director and participate in the counseling of employees.
  7. Check and update resort rooms status after approving cleanliness and condition in accordance with the departmental standards.
  8. Coach and counsel employees to reflect Rancho Valencia Resort Service Standards and Procedures.
  9. Maintain proper inventory levels of all required supplies and order them through Buy Efficient as needed.
  10. Continuously work with room attendants to monitor cleaning/standards/techniques and re-train as needed.
  11. Orient all new employees utilizing company handbooks and support materials.
  12. Lead training and recognition for employees at all levels and maintain a team-oriented environment.
  13. Supervise and assist other departments in the division when needed.
  14. Under the Director’s leadership, is responsible for the department training program, weekly and monthly training topics.
  15. Actively participate in the Resort safety program, abide by all injury reporting and safety behavior requirements, and lead safety training within the department.
  16. Participate in and support hotel efforts towards community service, sustainability, and environmental initiatives.
  17. Perform other duties as directed, developed, or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  1. Previous management experience in a luxury resort.
  2. Strong leadership and time management skills.
  3. Flexible schedule, including the ability to work holidays and weekends.
  4. Previous experience in a housekeeping line staff role.
  5. Previous housekeeping management or supervisory experience in a luxury resort.
  6. Previous Rooms Division or other Hospitality management experience.
  7. Understand financial statements and budget.

SKILLS

Required

  1. Ability to motivate assigned staff and maintain a cohesive team.
  2. Knows how to prioritize and organize work assignments; delegate work.
  3. Focus on details whether it is cleanliness and maintenance of guest rooms and resort.
  4. Strong office and computer skills including basic Excel, advanced Word, and Outlook ability.
  5. Ability to speak any other languages.
  6. Basic Spanish language communication skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  1. Frequent or occasional need to perform the following physical activities: reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and climbing. Have frequent need to perform standing and walking activities related to inspecting property.
  2. Constant need to perform the following physical activities: grasping, turning, finger dexterity.
  3. Occasional need to stand for long periods of time.
  4. Lifting/carrying up to 30 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally.
  5. Vision requirements: constant need to view small print. Frequent need to see small details and things clearly beyond arms’ reach.
  6. Hearing requirements: constant need to speak on telephone and/or two-way radio, respond to the general public and converse with staff. Ability to hear fire alarms and emergency equipment.

Salary Description: $70,000 Yearly + Medical, Dental, 401K, Vacation
