We are currently looking for HOSTS/HOSTESS to join our dynamic team at TRATTORIA BY ITALIAN KITCHEN in the heart of Burnaby, which celebrates la bella vita and a renaissance of a restaurant experience that transports guests to the heart of Italian cuisine, culture, and style. Seasonally informed dishes made from scratch are paired with consummate service, an intimate atmosphere, and a focused list of wines, cocktails, and beer.

The HOST is the first and last impression for our guests, and as such, this role should never be undervalued. The HOST is a personal representation of the service and overall brand experience, and it is the job of the HOST to ensure our guests feel welcomed and appreciated.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Create a positive guest experience that begins with a friendly greeting and warm smile.
2. Accurately take reservations that optimize each service period.
3. Efficiently maintain and organize the restaurant by managing guest flow while maximizing seating capacity.
4. Escort guests to their table, engage them in conversation, and seat them accordingly.
5. Recognize and acknowledge repeat guests.
6. Maintain knowledge of menu items, table numbers, and server sections.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

1. 2+ years’ experience in a similar high-volume environment.
2. A positive, energetic outlook and a genuine personality.
3. Enjoys working with people and has a passion for hospitality.
4. Excellent organization and time management skills.
5. Ability to proactively anticipate guest needs and exceed expectations.
6. Strong communication skills; verbal and written.
7. Understands the dynamic of a team working towards the common goal.
