As a Home Care Attendant you will:

• Provide various housekeeping duties, meal planning and preparation, and promote a safe and healthy working environment.
• Collaborate with the health care team, assist clients to maintain their independence, and help protect and restore individual and family functioning to maintain clients in their homes.
• Perform duties in accordance with service policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Grade 12
• Recent, related experience of three (3) months, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, or other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work.
• Class V BC Driver’s License A Valid BC Driver’s License is required as local area travel may require the use of a vehicle or other accepted mode of transportation.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position including significant amounts of lifting, bending, stooping and stretching.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations.
• Home management skills.
• Ability to operate related equipment and technology (iPhones, computers).
• Ability to organize and prioritize.
• Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients.

The hours of work, including days off and work area, may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check. As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections.
