High School Music Teacher

Successful candidates must demonstrate an ability to provide differentiated programming and innovatively deliver curriculum competencies within a highly collaborative team environment that fully engages students in learning. We are currently accepting applications for the following teacher position:

JOB TITLE:

High School Music Teacher

0.4 to 1.0 FTE, depending on qualifications and teachables

Starting August 25, 2025

Closing date for this position: Open until filled

Particular responsibilities of the role include:

1. Plan and prepare learning activities that support the BC music curriculum
2. Engage students with creative instruction so as to inspire a love and appreciation of music
3. Teach Senior and Grade 9 Band classes, as well as other possible musical groups (e.g. Jazz Band)
4. Proactively communicate and collaborate with administration, staff, and parents
5. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement, providing individualized feedback and written reports
6. Coordinate school performances for the community and KCS supporters
7. Plan experiential learning opportunities such as festival performances, music field trips, and band trips
8. Be involved in the school drama production if it is a musical
9. Other courses can be added to the FTE depending on the teacher’s qualifications

3. Be comfortable working in an information technology-rich environment

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor of Education degree or equivalent.
