Job Overview
English/Humanities Teacher
The Ideal Candidate Will
present qualifications and demonstrated ability to teach English and Humanities courses at the secondary level
exhibit an understanding of international student learners
be a positive, flexible, adaptable individual committed to student-centered teaching
demonstrate a willingness to work with a group of professionals to collaborate regarding curriculum, assessment, instruction, and planning in a small-class environment with an average 1:8 teacher-student ratio
demonstrate awareness of BC curriculum requirements, and the appropriate application of performance standards
be a communicator, with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to create effective working relationships with colleagues and students
experience working with international students and ELL learners is an asset
be comfortable using Canvas and technology in the classroom
demonstrate ability to differentiate instruction to accommodate students with varying language abilities and learning styles.
Qualifications
BC certified teacher (TRB); or must be immediately eligible for certification
Experience teaching English/Humanities curriculum at the secondary level
IB experience preferred
A keen willingness to support learners.
Benefits
Competitive compensation and benefits package with a full-time salary range of $61,175 to $70,000 based on TQS certification (education and experience).
