Hedge Accounting Consultant

Our client, a leading financial institution, is seeking a Senior Manager for PnL Reporting and Analytics within their Corporate Treasury department. This role is integral to their Portfolio Management, Execution, and Strategy unit. As the Senior Manager, you will be responsible for providing accurate and timely Profit and Loss (PnL) reporting and analytics, collaborating closely with traders, performance managers, and various internal teams to ensure data accuracy and improve processes.

You will play a vital role in presenting PnL findings to senior management and addressing discrepancies, while also being involved in ad-hoc projects and analytics initiatives. This role is ideal for a finance professional with a strong analytical mindset, exceptional communication skills, and experience in PnL reporting, product control, or performance management within the banking sector.

This is a 15 month contract with possibility for extension or conversion to full-time permanent. Located in downtown Toronto, 3 days a week in office.

Responsibilities

• Produce front office view of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date Net Interest Income and Total Return.
• Collaborate with traders, performance managers, enterprise hedge accounting, and product control to verify PnL figures and identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Reconcile results with the ALM measurement team on a weekly basis and analyze discrepancies impacting PnL.
• Present PnL findings and discrepancies to the head of the trading group on a weekly basis.
• Execute ad-hoc projects and perform detailed analytics to support decision-making.
• Develop, implement, modify, and document PnL reporting processes.

Qualifications

Must-Have :

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Accounting, or a related field (CPA or CFA preferred).
• 2-7 years of experience in PnL reporting, product control, or performance management within the banking sector.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
• Proficiency in English (written and verbal).

Nice-to-Have :

• Experience with VBA, SQL, Python, Tableau, EPM, EGL, or HIVE.
• Knowledge of Enterprise Hedge Accounting.
