Responsibilities
Implements and supports project HSE plans, regulatory requirements, and other safe work practices.
Identifies, evaluates, develops and delivers project specific HSE training and assists with the development of district specific training.
Implements district HSE communication strategies on projects.
Builds processes, evaluates, and advises on hazard identification.
Leads project HSE inspections and monitors the quality and effectiveness of inspections and trade safety plans.
Works with project teams to provide recommendations regarding corrective actions of systemic issues.
Develops and evaluates efficiency of the project emergency response plan, site-specific security requirements and the environmental plan.
Monitors and audits trade partner HSE performance.
Participates in on-site investigative processes and provides recommendations for and evaluating corrective actions taken.
Develops and maintains positive relationships with all stakeholders.
Supervises, coaches, trains and mentors HSE Coordinators and other employees.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
Holds safety designation.
7 years’ experience in a health and safety role in a related industry.
2 years’ experience in a supervisory role is an asset.
Strong working knowledge of applicable OH&S and environmental legislation and HSE processes.
Conflict resolution skills, with the ability to problem-solve.
Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Ability to develop, influence, and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
Strong working knowledge of construction processes and terminology.
Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
