LEGAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT – LITIGATION $65-75K+, RRSP, 3 weeks holiday, 12 personal days and more!

On behalf of our client, we are currently seeking a Legal Administrative Assistant to support two lawyers who work in Insurance, Health, Workplace, and Commercial Litigation practice groups.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Liaise with other legal assistants, paralegals, lawyers and clients regarding file progress
  2. Draft and transcribe legal documents, basic pleadings and correspondence
  3. Manage and maintain bring forward system for tasks and appointments
  4. Organize meetings and schedule discoveries, trials, and other court dates
  5. Prepare application records
  6. Field client inquiries
  7. Keep paper and electronic files up to date, including creating binders, labels and CMPA files
  8. Process all outgoing correspondence and sort incoming mail
  9. Prepare expense reports
  10. Prepare monthly accounts
  11. Other general administrative duties as required

What You Bring to the Position:

  1. Completion of an accredited Legal Administrative Assistant program
  2. Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant, in particular, Civil Litigation experience
  3. Advanced computer skills with Word, Excel and Outlook
  4. Keyboarding at a minimum of 60wpm
  5. Excellent spelling, grammar and proofreading skills
  6. A thorough understanding of civil litigation rules and procedures
  7. Ability to work calmly under pressure and manage high volume of work and multiple lawyers in a fast-paced environment
  8. Exposure to or experience with CMPA (Canadian Medical Protective Association) considered an asset
  9. Good time management and organization skills, meticulous attention to detail, proactive in communication and actions, takes initiative, willingness to learn, adaptability, intelligence (applies critical thinking, and genuinely cares about the role)
  10. Excellent written (grammar, spelling, proofreading) and verbal communication skills
  11. High level organizational skills with a strong attention to detail to produce quality and accurate work
  12. Ability to prioritize tasks by deadline, work calmly under pressure and manage high volume of work in a fast-paced environment
  13. Proven ability to take initiative and be proactive, as well as follow instructions and adhere to strict deadlines
  14. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with lawyers, paralegals and legal assistants
  15. Ability to work effectively both independently and as a contributing member in a team environment
  16. Positive, professional, can-do attitude

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this role is $65,000 – $75,000+ annually, which represents a fair market value and estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant education, experience and qualifications.

The position offers hybrid 1-2 days a week from home after 3 month probationary period.
