Job Description - Health and Safety Superintendent (Fly-In Fly-Out) (MEL01291)

Reporting to the General Manager, you will be part of the Health and Safety Department. You will provide health and safety support and leadership to successfully run health and safety programs through various areas of the mine. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that safety standards are maintained, tracking/investigating accidents and compiling statistics;
- Responsible for induction, training and organizing required training to meet the department standards;
- Observe and instruct on safe work practices and procedures;
- Ensure the site executes and complies with the elements of the Health and Safety Management programs;
- Prepare safety related reports and update H&S Statistics;
- Develop training initiatives as part of the health, safety and wellness of the Agnico Eagle H&S team;
- Identify, monitor and correct health and safety hazards;
- Provide technical advice and guidance on health and safety issues;
- Monitor employee adherence to safety regulations and enforce proper health and safety protocols;
- Promote safe and healthy working conditions and recommend ways to improve overall safety conditions by developing strategies to control risk in the workplace;
- Perform periodic site inspections in order to assess risk and ensure all safety regulations and protocols are adhered to and meet applicable safety standards;
- Understand the health and safety goals and strategies for the company and work with the HSR Manager to develop targets to achieve fiscal, strategic and legislative requirements;
- Responsible and accountable for supporting operations in terms of safety meetings, huddles, develop and manage procedures and standards;
- Provide guidelines for safe work including the development and review of standards, procedures and JHA’s ensure all health and safety measures are being taken and accounted for;
- Support inspections and audits for the HSR department, JHSC and approved requests of other committees/departments that require inspections/audits;
- Manage incident reporting and structure of incoming data;
- Capacity for development of Health and Safety standards, procedures and conducting Job Hazard Analysis;
- Ensure site compliance to local (Provincial) and National legislation;
- Ability to deliver induction and orientation of new employees;
- Inspect, audit and evaluate health and safety management systems, workplace conditions, equipment and practices;
- Development of health and safety materials required for presentations including but not limited to videos, PowerPoints, etc.
What You Need to Succeed:
- High School Diploma;
- Degree or Diploma in OHS is considered an asset;
- A solid background in Mining Operations or a combination of suitable experience is required;
- Working knowledge of EHS software;
- A solid knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants;
- Trade certification or designation is considered an asset;
- CRSP Designation is considered an asset;
- Train-the-Trainer certification is considered an asset;
- Leadership experience and training is considered an asset;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
Your Work Schedule:
- Schedule: 4 days of work, followed by 3 days for transportation and rest;
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
