Health and Safety Manager, ICI Construction (Scarborough/Eastern Toronto area)
The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and updating all aspects of the Company's Health and Safety Program. This role will ensure that the Head Office, Yard Operations, and Field Operations are in compliance with all local and provincial requirements pertaining to workplace health and safety. The Health and Safety Manager will conduct detailed inspections of the workplace to ensure compliance with the Company's Safety Program. This position requires the ability to manage workplace safety, identify unsafe conditions and acts, and propose solutions to prevent worker injuries. The Health and Safety Manager shall work in an advisory capacity on Employee/Labour Relation issues regarding disability management and act as an active advocate of Health & Safety within the Industry.
This position requires flexibility in meeting multiple job demands and the requirement to assist other team members on-site as needed. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge and expertise in the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, combined with good interpersonal/teamwork, organizational, and communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Most importantly, they would need to have the skills and ability to apply best practices in leadership within the Construction Industry, i.e., construction process and management.
Position Details
Permanent Full-Time Position,
Primary Location: Toronto, ON (Multiple Project Sites and Head Office)
Compensation: Commensurate to Candidate Experience
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Post Secondary Education preferably in an Industry related discipline. Gold Seal Designation an asset or working towards achieving.
- Certifications: NCSO – National Construction Safety Officer and COR/ISO Internal Auditor Certified.
- Experience: 5+ years of work experience in Health and Safety Management within the Construction Industry and well-developed knowledge of the construction process, and management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Compliance: Manages the implementation and adherence to all aspects of Health and Safety.
- Worksite Analysis and Accident Prevention: Manages the Hazard/Near-miss identification process.
- Training: Plans, prepares, conducts, and audits all health and safety training.
- Record Keeping & Reporting: Ensures adherence to documentation policies.
- Workers Compensation: Manages the return to work/modified duty program.
- Health & Safety Program Review: Evaluates and updates the Company Health & Safety Program.
