AGRIS Co-operative Ltd. has an opportunity for a full-time Health and Safety Coordinator to join our AGRIS team. As Health and Safety Coordinator, you report to the Operations Manager and will be responsible for maintaining and promoting the company’s occupational health and safety policies, programs, and procedures, as well as assessing and improving operational work processes, operations environmental and creating awareness of safe working practices across our AGRIS locations. What will you be responsible for:
- Provides an exceptional customer experience at every interaction.
- Support the oversite and provide expertise in relation to the Canada Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) program and ensure applicable OH&S legislative regulations and company standards are maintained.
- Chairs the Senior Health & Safety Committee and work with the members to ensure occupational health and safety is prioritized and effectively practiced throughout all areas of the organization.
- Creates recommendations, implements, evaluates, and maintains workplace health and safety policies and procedures in conjunction with the Senior Safety Committee and AGRIS Co-operative Leadership.
- Perform regular job site audits and inspections.
- Update and maintain all H&S training requirements, leveraging the training systems, programs available and through regular monthly Health and Safety meeting records.
- Work closely with site supervisors and safety committee representatives to complete hazard assessments as required, as well as to implement policy and programs on site.
- Ensuring the compilation, updating and distribution of health and safety related documentation as required on site.
- Perform regular safety checks of equipment, vehicle(s), etc. as may be required to support inspections and site safety.
- Support the investigation of all incidents for accuracy and causation (near misses, injury, property damage, utility contacts and 3rd party damage claims).
- Educate and ensure steps and procedures required in case of an accident are in place and known by all staff to ensure they follow the detailed procedures as stipulated.
Requirements for this job:
- Related professional education from a recognized college or university.
- An agricultural background is preferred.
- Occupational Health and Safety experience with a sound knowledge of the Canada Labour Code, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Ontario Highway Traffic Act, Canadian Environmental Protection Act, and must be familiar with relevant health, safety and environmental regulations, standards, and guidelines.
- Ability to work irregular hours.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Preference given to individuals with CRSP or other health and safety certifications.
- Proven interpersonal, organizational, and planning skills.
