What’s the role?
As a Head of Marketing (MED), you get to work with an astonishing team that plays a vital role in the Carl Zeiss Limited business. Show case your skills and experience with process enhancement.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- The Head of Marketing is responsible for the development and execution of national, downstream marketing and distribution strategies, supporting the Sales Management and field sales force in marketing matters (including assisting in the management of distributor relations) and managing related budgeting and revenue planning functions for Carl Zeiss Canada. Supports the Group’s upstream marketing efforts by closely interfacing with the respective upstream teams, (located in Germany) on local market needs and requirements. The Head of Marketing is influential in creating and executing internal, as well as external growth strategies, and takes the lead on all Canadian marketing activities related to Medical Technology.
- Develop and implement strategic marketing plans to achieve business objectives, including brand positioning, product launches, and promotional campaigns.
- Lead the development of marketing collateral, including sales materials, brochures, presentations, and digital content, ensuring consistency in messaging and brand identity.
- Conduct market research to identify trends, competitive landscape, and customer insights to inform marketing strategies and tactics.
- Manage digital marketing initiatives, including website content, social media, email marketing, and online advertising campaigns, to drive engagement and lead generation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, product development, and operations, to align marketing efforts with overall business goals and objectives.
- Analyze marketing performance metrics and KPIs to track campaign effectiveness, ROI, and customer engagement, and provide insights for continuous improvement.
- Product Management: Develops new products and improving existing products in preparation for market launch including:
- Product portfolio and innovation plan, product lifecycle and category management, technology licensing and
- Pricing, product concepts, claims and specification, competitive product comparisons and talking points, new product introductions.
- Introduces new products and forecasting associated revenue.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in medical technology and healthcare marketing to drive innovation and competitive advantage.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards in all marketing and promotional activities.
- Lead Marketing team to achieve annual sales and profit plans.
- Develops Market plan and executes the local implementation.
- Leads the commercialization teams for new product launches.
- Develop successful working relationships with Field of Business Leadership, Business Sector Leadership and product development to ensure all current and future product developments are supported with timely and effective communications programs for common goals of the business.
- Contributes to new product development plans and programs, in collaboration with Germany, including the successful launch of products to the Canadian Market.
- Plan, organize, staff, train and develop marketing personnel and develop future marketing leaders.
- Develop, implement and manage annual budget and compensation plans for department personnel.
- Interact with all levels of the organization, customers, KOL’s, vendors and industry competitors, with especially close working relationships with field sales leaders and their teams.
- Plan, organize and conduct meetings and discussion groups, including annual marketing meetings.
- Develop and manage promotional plans and materials for major trade shows.
- Capitalize on new revenue growth opportunities; implement for maximum effect.
- Proactively establish productive working relationships across multiple stakeholders, including customers, across functions, including sales, product development and/or functional peer group managers and senior management.
- Maintain professional relationship with customers and thought leaders within educational institutions, government and industry worldwide.
Do you qualify?
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, or related field; MBA preferred.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing strategies and campaigns that drive business results.
- Minimum 10 years of marketing and sales/sales management experience, or related experience, preferably in the medical device industry. Distributor management experience preferred.
- Minimum 5 years personnel management experience required.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence cross-functional teams.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, including CMS, CRM, email marketing, and social media management.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance considerations in healthcare marketing.
- Excellent computer skills including use of Microsoft products (Outlook, Excel, and Word).
- Ability to effectively present information to groups of people and train on relevant topics.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Capital equipment and/or medical device experience in the medical/surgical Ophthalmology setting.
- Visualization systems a plus.
- Strong marketing leadership and decision-making skills critical.
- Successful experience managing and leading professional staff.
- Polished oral presentation and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to clearly communicate policy decisions company strategy and vision.
- Experienced knowledge of financial analysis and analysis tools.
- Organizational agility to work across functions, business sectors and customers and markets.
- Experience and awareness of working in multi-cultural businesses – peers, customers, etc.
- Experience in other functional areas, product marketing, product development, sales, finance and other customer facing roles a plus.
Working Environment:
- Standard working hours are typically 40 hours per week Monday – Friday.
- Regular working hours.
- Willing to travel over weekends and holidays, including domestic and international travel (up to 30%).
- A Combination of hybrid work and work in the field with customer and meeting/conventions.
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural business environment, foreign language skills are desirable.
