The Head of Government Affairs, Canada will help develop policy and strategy on a range of issues, and handle Apple’s interactions with federal, provincial, and local government officials. The ideal candidate will have experience working at a high level in government, as well as working as a policy advocate.

Description

Lead Apple’s government affairs efforts across Canada through direct engagement with public sector leaders, industry organizations, and civil society groups. Design and implement public policy initiatives and engagement strategies with federal, provincial, and local government officials. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including industry trade associations, think tanks, and others engaged in public policy debates. Effectively communicate policy priorities and provide feedback with regard to stakeholder policy initiatives. Create policy and background materials for relevant meetings and engagement.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience working in relevant Ministries, agencies, and a detailed knowledge of the regulatory process.
  • Experience managing outside consultants.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience advocating before the government on behalf of corporations, trade associations, or any other interest groups.
  • Deep knowledge of the policy issues relevant to Apple, especially privacy, media regulation, environmental issues and other topics relevant to the technology sector.
  • Senior experience in government, government relations, or other advocacy/engagement roles.
  • Experience managing a broad portfolio of policy issues and organizing policy-focused events.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, and ability to concisely summarize complex issues and policies to create advocacy points and strategy.
  • Proven creative problem-solving history, ability to work collaboratively and under pressure.
  • Excellent leadership skills and professional presence.
  • Highly motivated self-starter and must enjoy a fast-paced environment.
  • Great teammate and willingness to pitch in when necessary.
