This role ensures that architecture aligns with business objectives, scalability needs, security requirements, and modern engineering principles, while fostering engineering autonomy within a structured framework.

As part of the leadership team under Platform, the Head of Architecture will play a critical role in driving cultural and operational transformation. This transformation involves breaking down silos and unifying infrastructure, application platforms, and operations into a single unit to improve efficiency, collaboration, and delivery speed. In addition, the Head of Architecture will be a key enabler of this shift, ensuring that technology decisions support this new way of working and drive both business and customer success.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Leading Cultural and Operational Change

  • Drive the cultural and organizational transformation from a traditional software development approach to a fully integrated DevOps model that enables faster, more reliable software delivery.
  • Champion the breakdown of silos, fostering collaboration across infrastructure, platform, and application teams to create a more streamlined and efficient delivery model.
  • Act as a change leader, ensuring that architecture is not just a technical function but a key enabler of the new operating model.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration, ensuring teams can deliver value quickly and reliably across the organization.
  • Work closely with engineering and operations teams to support the adoption of DevOps best practices, ensuring that architecture decisions align with modern software delivery principles.

Architectural Strategy & Decision-Making

  • Establish Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) at multiple levels to provide visibility and guidance for both business and engineering.
  • Define and maintain enterprise-wide architecture principles, standards, and frameworks.
  • Balance agility in the codebase and architecture with business goals, ensuring that decisions support fast feedback cycles, rapid experimentation, and cloud resilience.
  • Ensure that architecture supports fault tolerance, reliability, and modern service-based architecture in a cloud environment.

Cross-Team Alignment & Technology Roadmaps

  • Drive technology alignment across platform and business units, ensuring scalability, security, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Security leadership to align architecture with both product and operational needs.
  • Own and maintain long-term architectural roadmaps, balancing innovation, modernization, and technical debt management.
  • Implement and advocate for a Well-Architected Framework, systematically improving compliance, security, and reliability to ensure that audits and customer requirements are easily accommodated.

People Leadership & Development

  • Manage Architecture Managers, ensuring alignment between business needs and modern engineering best practices.
  • Build and mentor a team of ~30 architects, fostering an architecture-first culture.
  • Promote an environment where teams balance short-term execution with long-term sustainability.

Business Understanding & Customer Impact

  • Ensure that architecture decisions are driven by business needs and contribute to measurable business outcomes.
  • Work closely with product and business teams to understand how technology decisions impact customers and drive value beyond the organization.
  • Act as a technology thought leader, ensuring that architecture remains a competitive advantage by enabling scalable, resilient, and innovative service offerings.

WHAT WE VALUE

  • 12+ years of proven technical and leadership experience in architecture.
  • Proven track record of driving cultural and organizational transformation to a DevOps model.
  • Extensive experience in defining and maintaining enterprise-wide architecture principles, standards, and frameworks.
  • Strong background in fostering collaboration across infrastructure, platform, and application teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage Architecture Managers.
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience acting as a change leader and technology thought leader.
  • Deep understanding of modern engineering principles, including fault tolerance, reliability, and service-based architecture.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain long-term architectural roadmaps, balancing innovation and technical debt management.
  • Strong collaborative skills, highly motivated colleague who works well with others and is results-oriented.
  • Ability to ensure architecture decisions are driven by business needs and contribute to measurable business outcomes.
