Safran Electronics & Defense Canada designs and manufactures electronic control units and components for aerospace and safety critical applications. Our multidisciplinary Engineering team consists of product, hardware, software and test specialists with a vast array of skills and competencies to meet the rigorous demands of the market.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to become our Hardware Group Manager. This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Engineering and R&T. The role requires the successful individual to manage the people and processes within the Hardware Group in order to ensure on time, on cost and on quality development of complex hardware solutions.
Job Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Manage and provide guidance and leadership for all Hardware group activities including development, verification, change management, configuration management and proposals.
- Maintain and update processes, methods and procedures in compliance with industry standards, specifically DO-254 as it pertains to Board Design, PLD/FPGA Design and enclosures.
- Support career and personal development opportunities including training and mentoring and annual performance reviews.
- Manage the skills and gaps within the team, deploying the necessary skills to projects, carrying out training plans and building a sub-contractor support network to augment internal skills.
- Perform recruitment, interview and selection for contract and full-time employees.
- Support the definition of product and technology road maps for future growth.
- Support definition and monitoring of sub-contracted activities.
Technical Capabilities:
- Significant knowledge and experience working to the guidelines and objectives of DO-254 and DO-160 as it pertains to the design, development, verification and certification of airborne electronic hardware.
- Skilled in effort estimation and load planning, including risk analysis and performance indicators.
- Working knowledge of circuits and technologies used for aerospace applications, including but not limited to, low and high voltage power supplies, motor control, sensor management, discrete I/O and embedded microcontrollers.
Qualifications:
- Eligible for CGP and ITAR clearance.
- Engineering or equivalent degree in Hardware, Electronics or Computer Engineering.
- 5 Years of experience in leadership position in a relevant domain.
