ROLE: GROUP CREATIVE DIRECTOR

TEAM: CREATIVE, SALT XC

LOCATION: TORONTO (HYBRID)

ROLE OVERVIEW

We’re looking for a Group Creative Director to lead creative excellence for a tier-1 North American client. This is a unique opportunity to shape the work, the team, and the client relationship while combining leadership with hands-on creativity. You’ll be instrumental in answering briefs, elevating ideas from good to great, developing client relationships, and evaluating project prioritization for maximum impact. This role requires a leader who is confident delivering 360-degree marketing approaches and big, media-neutral ideas that live seamlessly across digital, social, traditional, and experiential platforms. A strong foundation in (and passion for) experiential marketing is essential, ensuring the work consistently connects with audiences in meaningful and innovative ways.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Creative Leadership & Execution

  • Oversee the creative vision, ensuring all work is aligned with client goals and brand strategy.
  • Develop your own creative work as a hands-on contributor, setting a high standard for the team.
  • Push team ideas beyond expectations to deliver innovative and impactful campaigns.
  • Bring proactive thinking to brands when culturally relevant opportunities arise.

Team Management

  • Lead and inspire a multidisciplinary creative team, fostering an environment of collaboration and growth.
  • Provide constructive feedback to guide team members (CD, ACD, Jr Creative, Designers) in refining their ideas and skills.
  • Partner with strategy, production, and account teams to ensure seamless project execution.

Client Engagement

  • Act as the primary creative point of contact for the client, building trust and maintaining a strong partnership.
  • Present concepts and campaigns with clarity, confidence, and strategic rationale.
  • Translate client briefs and feedback into actionable direction while defending great creative work when needed.

Strategic Oversight

  • Prioritize programs, projects, and resources to maximize team efficiency and impact.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and innovations to keep the work fresh and relevant.
  • Leverage a deep understanding of experiential marketing to ensure work is feasible within brief parameters and resonates in real-world applications.
  • Help the agency develop a strong and positive relationship with the advertising community to help recruit top talent.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 12+ years of creative experience, with 3+ years in a leadership role (Group Creative Director, Creative Director, or similar).
  • Proven ability to balance management and execution, excelling in both areas.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a variety of standout campaigns, with a focus on experiential and integrated marketing.
  • Exceptional storytelling, presentation, and leadership skills.
  • Experience managing tier-1 clients and large-scale campaigns.
  • Production proficiency across experiential, digital, social, and traditional platforms.
