Overview

Lafarge Canada Inc., operating in Calgary is currently seeking applications for an experienced full-time seasonal Grounds person to join our dynamic team. The Groundsperson will carry out scheduled ground maintenance work. In this role, you will report to the Aggregates Production Lead Hand and will work co-operatively with the aggregates team.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform several types of manual work
2. Handle materials, tools, and equipment
3. Operate automotive vehicles and small mobile equipment such as a skid steer when required
4. Shovel spillage around conveyors
5. Ensure the safety of company personnel, the community, and environment
6. Seek out and implement Best Practices
7. Create an atmosphere of teamwork and ensure the development of personnel and arbitrate to resolve conflicts
8. Identify and communicate product problems and information

Specific accountabilities:

1. Ensure safety goals are achieved
2. Comply with all company safety rules

Qualifications:

1. Capable of working in an outdoor environment year round
2. A positive and proactive attitude towards teamwork and safety.
3. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
4. Knowledge in general maintenance work

Competencies:

1. Safety Oriented
2. Able to lift 55 lbs
3. Able to work in a fast-paced, high production environment
4. Willing to work overtime and shifts when needed including Saturdays
5. Able to work unsupervised
6. Able to work well with others
7. Good communication skills
8. Valid Class 5 Drivers License
9. Min 2 years of experience operating a loader
10. Mechanically Inclined
11. Ability to read survey markings.

Compensation:

Starting Wage $31.86
