GRASS CREW LEAD
Elliot Lake Retirement Living (ELRL) is the leading provider of rental housing to retired and non-retired individuals in the province. ELRL owns a total of 1,375 residential units in the City of Elliot Lake.
Job Overview: We are looking to build a dynamic and hardworking team for our seasonal grass-cutting crew. The team will consist of 1 Crew Lead and 3 Laborers. This is a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, take pride in their work, and have a strong work ethic. The Crew Lead will manage daily operations, ensure the team works efficiently and effectively, and work with the Laborers to perform manual grass-cutting and lawn maintenance tasks.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervise, motivate, and direct a team of 3 Labourers to ensure grass cutting and lawn maintenance is completed to company standards.
- Plan and assign daily tasks to team members, ensuring a balanced workload.
- Monitor equipment and vehicle maintenance, ensuring tools are in good working order.
- Perform daily circle checks on all equipment.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed on all job sites.
- Report any issues or damage immediately to Housing Supervisor.
- Communicate with tenants to ensure satisfaction with services as required.
- Operate grass-cutting equipment, trimmers, and other equipment to maintain lawns and other landscaped areas.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in lawn care, landscaping, or a similar field is required.
- At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain landscaping equipment.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a team effectively.
- Clean Drivers Abstract as a company vehicle will be provided.
- Must be physically fit, capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Work Conditions:
- This is a full-time, seasonal position with an expected schedule of 8-hour shifts, 40 hours per week.
- Work will be outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, rain, and humidity.
- Work sites may vary, requiring travel to different locations.
- CSA Approved Steel Toe Boots/Safety Shoes are mandatory.

- Professionalism: Represent the company well while on job sites and interacting with tenants.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
