General Description
Under limited supervision, the Grants Administrator ensures that opportunities for receiving grant funding and other funding opportunities are maximized, while ensuring compliance is maintained with the conditions of each funding source. The incumbent will record financial data, analyze, and reconcile accounts, and prepare financial status and progress reports for funded projects.
Responsibilities
- Continually research grant programs to identify potential federal, provincial and non-government grant opportunities.
- Identify available grant funding for the Municipality to enable the use of many funding sources for budget purposes.
- Collaborate with internal departments to identify funding opportunities.
- Communicate relevant grant information to respective departments.
- Develop, monitor, and maintain the grant implementation and reporting process.
- Ensure the internal and external reporting process is maintained as per the identified requirements.
- Manage grant timelines to ensure continuation of grant funding.
- Prepare journal entries and reconciliations to maintain accuracy for financial reports and year end statements.
- Analyze and maintain reserve information and produce required reporting.
- Analyze and maintain levies and developer fees fund information and produce required reporting.
- Assist in the budget process regarding funding requirements.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Extensive knowledge of financial, budget and funding processes, combined with math and numeracy skills.
- Ability to exercise a high degree of discretion and maintain confidentiality of all documents and information.
- Ability to interpret and administer federal, provincial, municipal and external grant programs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills are required.
- Ability to work independently conducting research, applying analytical techniques and understanding funding guidelines and technical information relating to a variety of municipal departments.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy, and to coordinate and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and objectives.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong proficiency in various other programs including SAP, AS400, Citywide, Municipal Grants Management Application, and MA Connect.
Education And Experience
- Degree in Business Administration specializing in accounting or finance, combined with two (2) years of accounting experience in a computerized environment is required. Previous experience must include a minimum of one (1) year experience with grant administration.
OR
- Diploma in Business Administration specializing in accounting or finance, combined with four (4) years of accounting experience in a computerized environment. Previous experience must include a minimum of one (1) year experience with grant administration.
Other Requirements
- Competency testing will be required as part of the interview evaluation.
- Ability to work additional hours including outside of regular business hours when operationally required.
- Submission of a Criminal Record Check.
