SUMMARY:

Bright Lights for Africa Foundation (BLFA) is a dedicated non-profit organization committed to empowering marginalized communities, particularly immigrants, low-income families, and francophones of African descent in Calgary and surrounding area. VOLUNTEER DESCRIPTION:

As a Grant Writer, you will be responsible for developing and writing grant proposals to grant-making organizations and will persuasively communicate BLFA’s mission and programs to potential funders.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop/write grant proposals to foundations and grant-making organizations, persuasively communicating the organization’s mission and programs to potential funders.
  2. Assemble/submit grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations.
  3. Conduct prospect research, collecting data and writing for each grant.
  4. Report progress in grant research, grant submission, and outcomes to the Program Director.
  5. Manage the proposal submission process to ensure timely submission of all required materials.
  6. Develop and maintain a proposal calendar.
  7. Coordinate and follow up on the progress of submitted proposals.

SKILL SET AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. 1-3 years experience doing grant related work and applications to seek funding for non-profit projects.
  2. Possess good organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  3. Ability to work and coordinate multiple projects and deadlines.
  4. Skilled in technical writing, proofreading, editing, copywriting, grant writing, or equivalent written communication format.
  5. Ability to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing.
