What will you be doing!
- Excavating, landscaping, road and trail building and grading of CRL’s road system by using the appropriate machinery such as Bulldozer, Tractor Loader Backhoe, Motor Grader, Skid-Steer (and attachments), Tractors (and attachments), Excavators, and other pieces of equipment as necessary ensuring tasks are carried out to customer specifications and maintaining site infrastructure.
- Washing, cleaning, greasing, oiling, and making minor repairs and adjustments to equipment ensuring equipment is maintained in a safe and efficient working condition.
- Installing various attachments to applicable equipment to perform specific duties as excavation, snow plowing, post hole digging (auger), etc.
- Maintaining good housekeeping practices of all work areas, tools and equipment, adhering to provincial, federal and AECL regulations to provide a safe and efficient working environment.
- Attending monthly safety meetings and immediately report any safety concerns and/or infractions.
- Applying Event Free Tools and Pre-Job Brief information throughout the execution of assigned work and models this behavior and knowledge to others.
- Assisting in the training, coaching and mentoring of apprentices and co-op students in safe workshop practices and procedures including work planning, assisting and development of skills by demonstrating techniques, describing suitable methods. Monitoring, assessing and correcting work performance, discussing problems and improvements and report progress to supervisor and identify further training needs.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
- Education
- Secondary school graduation diploma and minimum three years relevant experience in operating heavy equipment machinery such as Bulldozer, Tractor Loader Backhoe, Excavator, and Motor Grader.
- Certified in the mentioned equipment would be an asset.
- Experience
- Knowledge of applicable programs and standards such as: CEC, CSA and ULC codes.
- Must have mechanical knowledge of a variety of heavy equipment machines such Bulldozer, Tractor Loader Backhoe, Excavator, and Motor Grader, and other general heavy equipment to perform basic maintenance activities and advise on maintenance issues.
- Proficient in excavating or grading to desired grades independently.
- Experienced of trench excavation safe for workers.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Must possess a Class G Vehicle License as per the Ministry of Transportation and Communication guidelines.
- Must be successful in practical testing which will be conducted during the interview process.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
