a day in the life:
The Global Merchandise Manager is a seasoned product and market strategist who is accountable for the global merchandise strategies and roadmap for the season. They also drive the creation, management and execution of the global product assortment by effectively leading their teams in collaborations and partnerships with the Product, Brand/Marketing and Guest Experience teams. This person is responsible for the development of the members of their global merchandising team to deliver product needs that reflect brand consistency and regional relevance to maximize profitability and sales across product classes, key items and channels. Global Merchants are on the pulse of what is happening in the retail world from apparel to accessories to the latest viral trends. Product lights you up and you have an ardent interest in fashion, trend lifecycles, and investigating businesses in the market to understand the impact to your current assortment and what might be influencing our guest. key responsibilities:
  1. Responsible for overseeing a team of Global Merchants who report directly to the Manager. They inspire, coach and guide their team members to develop their skills and deliver on business priorities.
  2. Guides team members or peers through upcoming deliverables and associated timelines effectively.
  3. The Manager supports employee development plans and manages performance.
  4. Accountable for defining class strategies based on short range strategy (2-3 years) and sales plan targets.
  5. Creates global seasonal merchandise strategies and roadmap in partnership with Merchandise Director, Cross Functional Product partners and Brand Creative team.
  6. Responsible for briefing raw materials in partnership with Merchandise Director.
  7. Accountable for leading their team to create content for showbacks to CMO and Creative Director (include strategy, innovation, directional investment level).
  8. Responsible for presenting seasonal merchandise direction - roadmap, story-telling/campaigns, product flow and colour to Regional Buyers and key cross-functional partners, for their business category.
  9. Enroll and align on class strategies with Design, Product Development and Sourcing (carryover, seasonal newness, franchise management and slot investments).
  10. Build strategic vision for franchises and product lifecycle management.
  11. Sign off on sketches, colour and protos against product brief and long term category strategy.
  12. Leads the team to gain in depth consumer, competitive and market insights.
  13. Accountable for colour flow for global assortment to ensure clear consistent profitable storytelling.
  14. Ensure seasonal KPIs/targets are met in partnership with Global Merchandise Planning.
qualifications:
  1. BA, BSc, BBA, BComm, (or equivalent), specialization in Retail Management an asset.
  2. Minimum 8 years of experience, combination of people management and Merchandising experience.
  3. Proven ability to coach, mentor and lead a team.
  4. Understanding and experience in working for a Global Brand is required.
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs- Mastery in Excel, proficiency in Merchandising Software, preferred experience in Adobe Illustrator.
  6. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret multiple data points across numerous channels and market segments.
  7. Financial acumen and understanding of Retail Math.
  8. Ability to balance analytical and creative tasks.
  9. Ability to interpret and apply financial insights on current business performance and leverage insights to guide and inform future range plans.
  10. The ability to identify global trends and styles and apply them to the global guests we serve.
  11. Ability to enroll and clearly communicate vision, class strategy and feedback to key partners.
  12. Ability to lead and influence creative partners.
  13. Strong communication skills both written and verbal, and demonstrative ability to present to Senior Leadership.
  14. Ability to multi task, pivot, prioritize competing tasks and operate in a fast paced environment.
  15. Highly organized with a keen eye for the detail.
  16. Ability to work independently to make sound business decisions.

compensation and benefits package:
lululemon’s compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from CAD $129,600 - 170,100 annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
