One Year Contract
We are in search of a highly motivated Junior Geologist (G.I.T.) to join our dynamic Exploration team. In this role, you will be directly accountable for assigned exploration projects and special initiatives, collecting relevant geological information, executing exploration programs, and providing crucial technical assistance to team members.
Your responsibilities encompass conducting geological mapping, soil and rock sampling, core logging, outcrop stripping, channel sampling, prospecting, and other relevant surveys on assigned projects, advancing targets of merit. You will ensure accurate data entry into designated databases daily and regularly update databases, transferring all collected data to the server weekly. Additionally, you will provide preliminary conclusions and recommendations on completed work and execute assigned exploration projects efficiently, adhering to IMG and relevant safety and environmental standards. Contributing to various reports and delivering timely information for weekly and monthly reports.
In providing technical assistance to other members of the Exploration team, you will supervise and guide geotechnical staff, summer students, and geological assistants. This will involve reviewing safe work practices and reporting metrics for staff under your supervision. Clear communication of expectations to staff, with a focus on safety before production, is essential.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves
The ideal candidate will hold a university degree in Geology and/or an advanced degree, be enrolled in the Professional Geoscientists Ontario (as a G.I.T.), possess a valid driver’s license, and have 0-2 years of mineral exploration work experience. Good interpersonal and communication skills, a sense of urgency and focus, proficiency in computer skills (including Microsoft Office, ARCGIS, Leapfrog), and the ability to both work effectively in a team and provide leadership are required.
Travel: This position is field-based, requiring presence at the Cote Gold site on a rotational basis. Extensive travel is expected both to and within the field, encompassing various work sites.
Field: Physical demands include lifting and walking lines and trails in rugged and extreme conditions, especially during field assignments.
Core Shack: The role involves physical demands related to moving core samples within the core shack.
Adaptability: Flexibility is key, as the role requires you to work seven days a week during field and drilling programs. Irregular hours may be necessary to meet deadlines. The nature of the job involves working in a sensitive social and ecological environment, often away from the home base for extended periods.
Hazards: Working around diamond drill rigs, helicopters, and small fixed-wing aircraft poses hazards such as noise levels and machinery. The role also entails working in remote locations and often severe climatic conditions. Hazards associated with wildlife, diseases, and the operation of off-road vehicles (4x4s, ATVs, boats) are inherent while working in the field.
