YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Geology Superintendent, you will be part of the Geology Department. You will be responsible for taking representative samples on RC drill rigs or blast hole rigs, completing the associated paperwork, preparing sample shipments for the lab and delineating ore blocks and ore spotting in the pit. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Ensure the safety of the team by applying a zero harm approach to all tasks performed;
  • Deliver all samples to the shipping totes by the end of the shift;
  • Complete Ore Mark-Ups as required;
  • Ensure QA/QC samples (duplicates, standards & blanks) are included with the daily sample shipment;
  • Complete Sample Shipment Forms;
  • Complete and submit all paperwork before leaving at the end of the shift;
  • Communicate issues with RC drill holes, blast hole sampling, ore markups, or BMM installations to the Mine Geologist or designate;
  • Ensure RC Contractor personnel are correctly cleaning the sampling system at regular intervals as per procedure;
  • Correctly, and legibly, write up the sample bags in advance of drilling;
  • Ensure the RC rig is correctly aligned and drilling at the correct dip;
  • Assist in the Install of BMM (Blast Movement Monitoring) Balls;
  • Ensure that all personnel at the RC rig comply with all Company Safety policies and procedures;
  • Promote a possible health, safety and environment culture.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED;
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment with ability to lift 50lbs or more;
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions for extended periods of time;
  • Possess a valid G Class Ontario Driver’s License;
  • Experience working in an open pit operation is considered an asset;
  • Willingness to learn and demonstrate potential to develop;
  • Good verbal and listening skills;
  • Motivated, reliability and enjoy working as part of a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

Your Work Schedule:

  • Schedule: 14 days of work at our Detour Lake mine site, followed by 14 days off;
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
