YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Manager of Exploration - Ontario, you will be part of the Exploration Department. You will provide geospatial expertise to support the Ontario exploration departments GIS requirements in relation to our Regional, Detour and Macassa mine sites. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain spatial datasets for environmental monitoring (e.g., water quality, wildlife habitats);
  • Conduct spatial analysis and modeling to support environmental assessments and reporting;
  • Maintain and improve the GIS Database and provide support to GIS Ontario users. Ensure GIS dataset is accurate and complete;
  • Produce figures and maps to support the Exploration team. Assist with completion of reports and data presentations as required. Analyze and visualize exploration data for compilation and reporting purposes;
  • Provide training to geologists and technicians in GIS related tasks as required;
  • Collaborate with other departments (Environmental, Geology) and between the sites to integrate GIS data.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Environmental Science, or related field;
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role;
  • Strong understanding of spatial analysis, cartography, and geospatial data management;
  • Knowledge of geospatial data standards and best practices;
  • Certification in GIS is considered an asset;
  • Familiarity with 3D modelling software (LeapFrog, Datamine) is considered an asset;
  • Experience working with programming languages (Python) is considered an asset;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

Your Work Schedule:

  • Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday at one of our Regional offices in either Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay, Sudbury, ON or Val-d'Or, QC with teleworking also available. Occasional visits to site may also be required.
